Community Rules

Cormanthor is a roleplay server with a focus on collaborative storytelling. The rules exist to support fair play and community cohesion.

As we cannot possibly cover every possible circumstance in this list, we expect players to follow the spirit of these rules across their behavior.

Should you have a problem with another player's behaviour you should discuss this with them privately. If you are uncomfortable doing this, or if this hasn't resolved the problem, speak to the Administrator. In instances of clear abuse, take screenshots and send them to the Administrator unedited.

That's what you're here for!

This is a roleplay server. OOC chat should be kept to a minimum and preferably done via tells or our Discord chat server.

Players are expected to remain in-character in the game world and to act appropriately for the character within the scope of our community rules.

Characters must be setting-appropriate and adhere to our guidelines - see Character Creation Rules.

No one will OOCly provoke fellow players with sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive language (whether direct to them, or to other people in an effort to spread animosity). Failure to abide by this rule is grounds for an immediate and permanent ban.

The community of this server will keep and enforce a civil attitude in private as well as in public. This applies not just in-game.

Griefing another player via any means is prohibited.

Any PVP action should be approached in a sporting nature; if either player is not prepared to have their character lose, disengage and find another means to resolve conflicts. Forcing PVP (directly or indirectly, including through a third party) on an unwilling participant is griefing. Invoking this rule while refusing to disengage or defuse a situation is also griefing.

PVP actions include (but are not limited to) attacking other Player Characters (including with summons/pets), arranging for others (PC or NPC) to attack PCs, conspiring to ruin another PC's reputation, and pickpocketing.

The DM's judgment call is the final word in-game on any issue. There is to be no argument once a call has been made. If you disagree with a decision, you may contact the administrator to discuss it. Please remain civil to the DM/player you disagree with.

If and when you find a bug or exploit, report it in the bug report forum or to the lead builder. If you are caught repeatedly exploiting a bug without reporting it, or sharing bug exploits with other players (excluding the report), you will be penalized.

Any abuse of the engine for your own benefits (such as logging out to avoid death, ninja-looting, loot-camping, etc.) is also prohibited.

Muling - that is, using any kind of intermediary (including a chest or the ground) - to transfer items or gold between any of your own characters is not allowed.

Twinking - that is, a high level character kitting up a low level character with gold and equipment far beyond their ability to acquire and/or far more quickly that they could acquire in an appropriate party - is not allowed.

Trades and sales may be initially arranged OOC for the purposes of aligning playtimes, but the negotiation and bartering must be roleplayed in-game.

Using stealth, invisibility, or other means to loot a dungeon without engaging the monsters inside is not allowed. Similarly, stealing loot while another group engages a dungeon is akin to griefing.

Additionally, as a private server & community, we reserve the right to remove people from our community for any reason.

The rules apply to players and DMs alike. Possible penalties for not following them include, but are not limited to:

  • Level loss
  • Gold/Item loss
  • Character deletion
  • Banning

Ignorance is not a valid excuse under any circumstance!
