Burial Cave

Name Burial Cave
Recommended Levels 4-6
Recommended Party Size 2-4
Scope Medium
Region Featherdale

The Duskscales are a nomadic tribe of lizardfolk seen wandering near grave and burial sites in and around the Dales. Their presence in these areas suggests they are either observing the undead, or scavenging for something. They are known as being capable of commanding undead, but do not always choose to. Rumors say that the Duskscales are actually seeking to achieve immortality for their chieftain, who has yet to be seen by anyone.

The old burial cave in Featherdale is one of the many places these lizardfolk are spotted.

Location:

In Featherdale, head east of Blackfeather Bridge. In Wright's Ferry, cross the river and continue east along the northern banks. When you come across an abandoned farmhouse, walk off the road and head north, where you will find the site of the burial cave.

Name The Barrowfields
Recommended Levels 4-6
Recommended Party Size 2-4
Scope Medium
Region Mistledale

This line of low, grass-dirt mounds is located somewhere between Ashabenford and the dangerous Beast Country, in western Mistledale. Mistrans shun the mist-shrouded hills, believing them to be haunted by the nameless dead buried here. It is commonly known in the Dale that the hills are tombs, haunted by skeletons and ghostly dead.

Location:

In Mistledale, head west out of Ashabenford and then south across the Plow Creek.

Black Network Vault

Name The Barrowfields
Recommended Levels 4-6
Recommended Party Size 2-4
Scope Medium
Region Battledale

The Black Network Vault was an old Zhentarim prison, before it became what it is today. The prison was likely abandoned during the Time of Troubles, when Mistledale's Riders drove an army from Zhentil Keep from the Dales.

Judging from the state of the former prisoners, the Zhents transformed everyone still held in the prison into undead horrors before they were forced to abandon the structure. This old vault is also being scoured by the Duskscale tribe that has been spotted in Featherdale.

Location:

In Battledale, head west of Essembra towards the Dark Road and then south to the Abbey of the Sword. Continue south through the forest and the Rauvedon Hills until you reach Three Rivers Land. To your right, the abandoned prison should be seen.

Greatstone Tribe

Name Greatstone Tribe
Recommended Levels 4-6
Recommended Party Size 3-5
Scope Large

A tribe of mighty bugbears found in the Cormanthor. Mostly a group of typical bugbears, notably lacking in any hobgoblin or goblin lackeys, the Greatstone also employ minotaur mercenaries and deadly displacer beasts. The Greatstone prey upon travelers of the Halfaxe Trail, or travel towards the roads near the Standing Stone.

Location:

In Battledale, head north of Essembra until you reach the Standing Stone. From there, go northeast into the Tangled Vale. Behind the strange elven cave, the Greatstone scouts can be found guarding their territory.

Sunken Crypt

Name Sunken Crypt
Recommended Levels 4-6
Recommended Party Size 2-4
Scope Medium
Region Battledale

Though few seem to realize it, the Sunken Crypt under Oaknoll was not just a crypt. It was a magic lab for a group of necromancers, who practiced their dark magic beneath the town's graveyard. It's unknown whether the people of Oaknoll were aware of their existence, and if they supported these activities. Regardless, the necromancers disappeared after the graveyard was flooded by the nearby stream, and for a time, it remained underwater. After it had drained, the townspeople began hearing undead cries from within the tomb.

The undead within are said to be the mindless remains of the necromancer's final experiments. The slimes originate from the flooded well in the center of the crypt.

Location:

In Battledale, head south of Essembra, along Rauthavyr's Road, until you reach the shrine of the Red Knight. Veer to the path going east, and you will reach Oaknoll.

The more intricate circles appear to shield dark, depthless pits which seem to seep an evil form of energy, corrupting any living thing that comes too close.
