Kaennus Ghenwul

A towering red haired, bronzed male human, with piercing blue-green-grey eyes that show cunning. His clothes are sturdy and pragmatic, over them he wears studded leather armor. He seems to favor earth tones.

On his back he carries a round wooden shield, a quiver and a composite longbow. A scabbard with a longsword is attached to his belt and a skinning knife is clearly visible attached to his right leg. It looks like he knows how to use the weapons he carries.

This powerfully built man, with outlined muscles looks like a seasoned tracker and hunter. His step is light-footed and nimble and he looks sturdy and in good condition. Furthermore he looks aware of his surroundings.

His manners are reserved, gruff and sometimes outright rude. This makes him, together with the numerous cuts and scars unattractive. When he speaks it is with an Illuskan accent but most of the time he is on his own, tracing the lines of the green dragon tattoo that is covering the whole of his left forearm.

If one asks a minstrel to tell the story of Kaennus, some answer in reply that they know a ballad about him. The minstrel always ask if the one who request it, is sure that he wants to hear it, because it is not the most pleasant of songs.

The Ballad of Kaennus Ghenwul
Coming from the West, travelled by ship the Sea of Swords,
from the Isle of Moray, where inlets by sea are called fjords.
A tattoo of a green wyrm, covering the man's left forearm.
His manners rough and stern, his appearance never warm.

Your actions never your own, suffering a misguided fate.
Powers you never knew, twisted your path towards hate.
Your share were the machinations started by a dark soul.
Ignored by deities, perhaps of little solace… but you played your role.

His motivation clear, the goal he direly purchased was revenge,
It was his wife and children he desperately wanted to avenge.
Lives taken by poisonous breath all because of an old strife,
Denied seeing his children to grow up, together with his wife.

Your actions never your own, suffering a misguided fate.
Powers you never knew, twisted your path towards hate.
Your share were the machinations started by a dark soul.
Ignored by deities, perhaps of little solace… but you played your role.

Plaything of a curse, a dragon to be killed by his bloodline.
Casted by a dying witch, as that serpent broke her spine.
It's reign to be ended by the seventh son of the seventh son.
His number not right, it was a fight he could have never won.

Your actions never your own, suffering a misguided fate.
Powers you never knew, twisted your path towards hate.
Your share were the machinations started by a dark soul.
Ignored by deities, perhaps of little solace… but you played your role.

He met his end by the sharp claw of a dread, green wyrm,
Lifted chin and open eyes, strongly on his legs he stood firm.
He never knew if that dragon was the one and the same.
So goes the tale of his life, predestined for a dragon to claim.

Your actions never your own, suffering a misguided fate.
Powers you never knew, twisted your path towards hate.
Your share were the machinations started by a dark soul.
Ignored by deities, perhaps of little solace… but you played your role.

From time to time there is one who asks the minstrel were the song originated from and most of the time, the answer is a shrug of the shoulder and a mumbled “Don't know.”. But some do know that there was a bard that has seen Kaennus’ grave in the Cormanthor and that that particular bard, heared parts of the song, sung by eerie voices. Some do even tell, if the mood has gone to sombre about the rumor that a woman with child has been seen visiting the plain grave.

He has seen be talking with Maeve Byrne, who also hailed from the Moonsea Isles on several occasions. When she was talking about their homeland he always had a faint smile on his face, a crack in his otherwise dour appeareance.

Kaennus became a member of the Circle Of The Elder Grove in 1374 DR. The only few that he was somewhat close with, were Mirrinda Mirritar, Nikolaz Maccon and Diero Falcone. The last one came the closest to a friend.

Rumor goes he has been involved in the killing of a Red Wizard who was searching for a magical crown. He grew tired of the deadlock they were in and took action which resulted in them both being fried by lightning. It is said that it was Maeve Byrne who treated his nearly deadly burns.

He was a mediocre archer but it is said that one of his arrows, distracted a green wyrm that held a woman named Ayowindhe Mirrenwe in it’s claw. The green one dropped her and after that they were able to escape with the help of a mysterious man named Marthan, who watched the whole happening in the shape of a bird.

In the final battle with the dread green dragon, the same that afflicted Essembra with the wasting plague in Flamerule of 1374 DR, he walked up towards the wyrm asking if it ever visited Moray, one of the Moonshae Isles. Perhaps his cocky answer, reminding the dragon of his arrow that once struck true, or the action of other adventurers caused his eventual dead. Most who do remember him at that moment, remember him as a fool walking up to a dragon.

His grave is rumored to be somewhere in the Cormanthor. It is guarded by a nest of vipers, said to be the offspring of his animal companion. About eight months after his dead, the grave was visited by a young woman, who carried a new born child on her arm. The woman and child have appeared several times later, the mother telling the story of his father being a dragon hunter and the child chasing vipers like it were dragons.
